Gwen Epstein - Laboratory Manager - Lifebank
For the love of Science…

Gwen Epstein is a graduate of UBC with a BSc., major in Microbiology and she is a Immunohematology Registered Technologist. Gwen had two passions as a young girl, studying the bodies building blocks contained in blood cells and tap dancing. An interesting combination where the passion for the microscope won over the passion for the shoes. Gwen’s insatiable appetite for discovery earned her a place on Canada’s first tissue typing program for Renal Transplantation at Vancouver General Hospital.

Gwen has instilled her passion for science throughout her laboratory team of young professionals. The dedicated team provides the 24/7 service of processing and storage of precious cord blood stem cells.

Lifebank Code of Ethics and Standard Operating Procedures are grounded in trust and accountability. The attention to detail is designed to ensure the highest standard in the handling and management of cord blood stem cells.

Laboratory Manager Gwen Epstein is a Program Certified ‘AABB Assessor’ , providing her knowledge world-wide to ensuring compliance at cord blood stem cell banks. Gwen has pioneered her biomedical knowledge at the Unrelated Bone Marrow Registry and DNA HCV/HIV Testing Laboratory at Canadian Blood Services.

About Gwen’s other passion for "tap", you can find her enjoying dance three times per week.

Lifebank is committed to providing leadership in the advancement of cord blood stem cell banking and meeting the stringent criteria of ‘FACT’, ‘AABB’ and Health Canada.
